Leman University Geneva (LUG) is a private university founded in Geneva, Switzerland. LUG is the only private University in Switzerland which offers degrees in Law. Besides degrees in Law, LUG offers degrees in International Relations.

First private Law School in Switzerland

Leman University is an institution of higher Education based in Geneva, providing top quality studies in Law, International Relations and Political Sciences. It is composed of two faculties, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of International Relations, each offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs.

Leman University is the first private University in Switzerland to offer degrees in Law, and is currently the only private Law school in the country.

Location

Leman University is ideally located in Geneva’s famous bank district in the heart of Geneva. It is also at walking distance from Geneva’s cultural district, with its comprehensive libraries, museums and universities.

Geneva, situated at the beautiful shores of Leman Lake, is an ideal location for studying Law and International Relations as it is considered to be one of the oldest worldwide center for diplomacy and the most important international co-operation center alongside New York, because of the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many of the agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross.

Geneva is the third European financial center after London and Zurich, and the world's eighth most important financial center by the Global Financial Centers Index, ahead of Frankfurt and Sydney. A 2009 survey by Mercer found Geneva to have the third-highest quality of life of any city in the world. The city is referred to as the world's most compact metropolis and the "Peace Capital".

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law of Leman University provides different degrees in Law. Our institution offers extensive programs for Bachelor of Law (LLB), Master of Law, LL.M and PHD in Law (JD). We are also proud to present for the first time an exclusive LL.M in Swiss Law providing a Diploma in Swiss Law, enabling the graduate students from other countries to practice Law in Switzerland.

Those students who wish to practice as lawyers will be assisted to fulfill requirements in order to be admitted to different bar associations, including different Swiss and American bar associations.

Graduates can also continue their studies in Law by choosing one of our Masters programs and specializing in a specific area of Law. They can also choose one of our inter-disciplinary programs and specialize in Economy or Management.

Courses at the Faculty of Law of the Leman University will be delivered in English, French and bilingual English and French language.

Faculty of International Relations

The Faculty of International Relations of Leman University provides different degrees in International Relations. Our institution offers Bachelors and Masters programs as well as PhDs in International Relations and Political Science. All courses are delivered in English, French and bilingual English and French.

Leman University Doctoral School

The Doctoral program prepares researchers for developing and defending a thesis under the supervision of the professors of LUG.

During the first year, Leman University provides solid background for the doctoral work, in methodology and general subjects. The subject of the research work should be fixed during this year.

The next years of the programs are dedicated to research, field work, data collection and writing of the thesis under constant and close supervision of our professors.

Our PhD candidates could also be offered to teach in Leman University as assistants, in order to complete their trainings. The PhD program ends with the finishing and defending of the thesis and the publication of it as a book.
